East Texas Ranch
was started in 1975 by G.B. Chamblee and his son Roy G. Chamblee. Roy’s sons and family, Mark and Tracy Chamblee of Huntington, TX and Richard and Allison Chamblee of Houston, TX, now operate it. East Texas Ranch is located in Huntington, TX, which is about 10 miles south of Lufkin and 120 northeast of Houston.

East Texas Ranch’s first herd bull was Sugarland’s Poncrata 57. He was a son of the 1972 National Grand Champion bull, Sugarland’s Poncrata 4. This bull produced a large number of our cattle. We currently have 1100 straws of semen from Sugarland’s Poncrata 57. Our next herd bulls were MM Rexcrata 783 and E-TEX Rexcrata 93. Both were sons of the great Sugarland’s Rexcrata 1 229.

In 1984, Roy G. Chamblee added another great herd sire, +WR MR. SUVA 203. In the 1980’s, we were breeding granddaughters of the number two Brahman bull in the Register of Renown to the number one Brahman bull in the Register of Renown.

East Texas Ranch was less active in the 1990’s. Hereford and Simmental bulls were used on the ranch. As a result, most of the Brahman herd were phased out. In 2005, Roy’s oldest son, Mark A. Chamblee, retired from the U.S. Army and began purchasing more Brahman cattle.

Today we are still a small ranch, but are rebuilding the Brahman herd. We are currently breeding our cattle to BAN BAR MANSO 299/2, a full brother to the 2002 International Reserve Grand Champion bull, BNA “The Deacon” Manso 253. We are also starting to AI (artificially inseminate) some cattle to +WR MR. SUVA 203 and MR. V8 730/5 “Tomcat”.

East Texas Ranch is owned by brothers, Mark A. Chamblee and Richard G. Chamblee and operated by Mark. Mark retired from the U.S. Army in 2005. He is a veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom, having served in the Iraq War in 2003. Mark and his wife, Tracy, have three children, Colbey, Madison and McKenzie. The children are currently active in the Junior shows.
